Neli mändi
on jändrikud ja jämeda tüvega. Nad on madalamad kui põhjapoolsed männid, aga tugevamad. Neli mändi moodustavad nelinurga ja nende vahele tekib omamoodi õhuruum. Üks mändidest on täielikult vana vundamendi külje all ja rasked oksad - millest mõned on juba saetud - kummarduvad katuse jäänuste kohale. Nende nelja männi säilitamine on oluline, kuid ka väljakutse.
Maakelder
Piki maja põhjakülge jookseb võlvitud maakelder, mis moodustab maja ligi taimkattega künka. Kuna kelder on majale nõnda lähedal - ja räästa piir pole kuigi palju künkast kõrgemal - muudab ta põhja külje tummaks. Kelder ise on aga hästi säilinud. Peale lagunenud ukse, on võlvid ja ka kivitrepistik vaid veidi kahjustunud. Kelder on igati säilitamisväärne ja ateljee osas tähendab see väikseid aknaid põhja küljel, kõrgemal künkast - ja muidu rahulikku ja suletud külge. Lõuna külg saab seevastu täielikult avatud olema.
Oja
Maa kõige lõunapoolsemas osas on metsik jõgi-oja. Veidi liiga kitsas, et jõeks nimetada - ja liiga lai, et ojaks nimetada. (Ametlikult on tegemist jõega). Oja lookleb kahe järsu kalda vahel ja kuigi pole ateljee akendes nähtav, määrab ta ometi palju koha meeleolust. Vesi on kollakaspruun ja päikese käes kuldne. Suviti on vesi madal, vaevalt põlveni, kuid kevaditi ja sügiseti saab mõnes käänakus supelda.
Tasandid
Siilaka maatüki põhjapoolne osa on ligi 3 meetrit kõrgemal, kui lõunapoolne külg. Maa langeb oja suunal. Kunagi oli oja palju laiem ja madal maa, pinnaselt niiske, on endise jõe org. Erinevad kõrguse tasandid toovad oja vastaskalda kuuseladvad näiliselt madalamale. Õunaaias seistes tekib tunne, et horisont kummub.
Õunaaed
Kus kasvavad metsikud õunapuud. Kui mujal ümbruses on pinnas liivane, kasvavad vaid männid ja muru kidub, siis ateljee lõuna küljele avaneb viljapuuaed, kus kasvavad metsikud õunapuud. Jändrikud vanad puud kannavad väikseid vilju ja tihedat võra. Õunaaias on muld viljakam ja ka muru kasvab pehmeks ja tihedaks. Hoolimata puude tihedast võrast, on õunapuud võrreldes mändidega madalad, muutes platsi valgusküllasemaks. Seetõttu saab ateljee terrass avanema viljapuuaeda.
Mets
Kaugemal, üle jõe vastaskaldal on kuusik. Loojangupäike muudab ladvad punaseks ja sinise taeva taustal näib isegi talvel suvi olevat.

Studio's immediate surroundings determine the spatial decisions of the house.
Four pines
are sturdy with thick trunks. They are shorter than the northern pines but stronger. The four pines form a rectangle, creating a unique airspace between them. One of the pines is very near to the old foundation, and heavy branches – some already cut – bend over the remnants of the roof. Preserving these four pines is important but also challenging.
Root Cellar
Along the north side of the house runs a vaulted root cellar, forming a mound covered with vegetation. Because the cellar is so close to the house, and the eaves are not much higher than the mound, it makes the north side dark. However, the cellar itself is well-preserved. Apart from a deteriorated door, the arches and the stone staircase are only slightly damaged. The cellar is worth preserving, and for the studio, this means small windows on the north side, higher up the mound – creating a calm and enclosed aspect. In contrast, the south side will be completely open.
Stream
In the southernmost part of the land is a wild river-stream. A bit too narrow to be called a river and too wide to be called a stream (officially, it is a river). The stream winds between two steep banks, and although not visible from the studio's windows, it significantly influences the mood of the place. The water is yellowish-brown and golden in the sunlight. In summer, the water is shallow, barely knee-deep, but in spring and autumn, the water level rises.
Levels
The northern part of the uneven plot is about 3 meters higher than the southern side, sloping towards the stream. Once the stream used to be much wider, and the lowland, moist from the soil, is the former river valley. Different elevation levels make the spruce tops on the opposite bank seem lower. Standing in the apple orchard, the horizon appears to bend.
Apple yard
Where wild apple trees grow. While the surrounding soil is sandy, with only pines and sparse grass, the southern side of the studio opens to an orchard with wild apple trees. Sturdy old trees bear small fruits and dense crowns. The soil in the orchard is more fertile, and the grass grows soft and thick. Despite the dense tree canopy, the apple trees are shorter compared to the pines, making the area brighter. Therefore, the studio terrace opens to the apple orchard.
Forest
Further away, on the opposite bank across the river, there is a spruce forest. The setting sun turns the tops red, and against the backdrop of the blue sky, even in winter, it seems like summer.

Õhk ja sõrestik
A model that sketches a timber lattice structure allows air and light to pass through.
This feeling should be maintained even later when walls and a roof inevitably enclose a space. This model focuses primarily on three spatial aspects. One is the lattice and its resulting potential for airiness. The second is the side roof rafters, which don't rise straight up but are inclined, extending the ridge and forming a canopy on each side.
Entrances to the studio are (currently) intended beneath the canopies on both sides. The third spatial nuance is the staircase to the second floor - which becomes more of a mezzanine. The staircase is a passageway, a viewpoint, and a bridge connected to a terrace oriented towards the evening sun.
